BTGSR - Safety Response Mobile App

Privacy Policy

The BTGSR mobile app has been created by Bridging The Gap-Oregon in partnership with TriMet, a public transportation company located in Portland, Oregon for use among TriMet’s Safety Response Team Members and Service Providers invited by TriMet. The BTGSR app will not be accessed or used by the general public.

Admins for the BTGSR mobile app are board members of the Bridging The Gap-Oregon nonprofit organization as well as admins employed by TriMet, located at 4012 SE 17th Ave, Portland, OR 97202. TriMet will provide oversight of the BTGSR mobile app for use among their department members and service providers. BTGSR app development, maintenance and updates are completed and submitted by Bridging The Gap-Oregon.

This Privacy Policy describes how information is collected, used, stored, and/or disclosed pursuant to membership and access to this application. Personally Identifying Information (PII) will not be collected or transmitted through this application for any member or person requesting services through use of this application.

Collection and Use of General Personal Information

General Personal information is data that may be used to identify or contact a single person. You may be asked to provide your personal information while applying to use the Bridging The Gap-Oregon Safety Response (Also known as “BTGSR”) mobile app.

Bridging The Gap-Oregon Safety Response mobile app collects and uses personal information consistent with this Privacy Policy. You are not required to provide the personal information that we have requested, but, if you choose not to do so, you may not be able to use the BTGSR mobile app.

BTGSR does not collect technical data such as device identifiers, IP address, profile information, facial recognition or Touch ID fingerprints. Some of these technical data items may be requested pursuant to Apple and Google Play device features. Please see their privacy policies for more information.

Personally Identifying Information (PII) Prohibited

Bridging the Gap-Oregon Safety Response Mobile App and TriMet Administrators do not collect or store any Personally Identifying Information (PII) for any member regarding date of birth, social security numbers, home addresses, family information, or specific medical or healthcare information.

How We May Use Your General Personal Information

The general personal information we collect allows us to approve you as a member/user of the BTGSR mobile app network in partnership with TriMet and keep you posted on latest announcements and software updates. Personal information will be used for analytics or analyzing the success, failures, or needed improvements and updates to the mobile app. We may access or process your general personal information for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy for compliance with a legal obligation to which Bridging The Gap-Oregon Safety Response is subject or when we have assessed it as necessary to disclose information for use within the mobile app or as requested by law enforcement agencies.

When you provide your personal information to use the BTGSR app when you create or update your account or interact with the TriMet Services, you agree to our use and processing of your personal information as set out in this Privacy Policy. You can update your preferences associated with our use of your personal information changing your account settings, closing your account and/or deleting the Apps from your device(s). Any personal information TriMet through the BTGSR Mobile App collected prior to a change in preferences or deletion of your account will be retained in accordance with our data retention policies and applicable laws.

Information from Children Under 13

Bridging The Gap-Oregon and TriMet complies with the requirements of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”) and the Federal Trade Commission’s rule interpreting COPPA (16 CFR § 512). The BTGSR mobile app is not directed at individuals younger than age 13, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information through the BTGSR app from anyone under 13. If we learn that we have personal information of an individual under age 13 that has been provided to us without parental or legal guardian consent, we will delete this information from our databases.

Location Services

TriMet operates public transportation services in the Portland metro area. In cooperation with Clark County, Washington’s C-TRAN and the City of Portland’s Streetcar, TriMet connects people with their community. As part of TriMet’s mission to provide a transit system that is safe, dependable and easy to use, TriMet offers various services, including the BTGSR Mobile App, the TriMet Website, the BTGSR Website and other electronic offerings comprising our Services. Some of the Services require you to provide personal information directly, such as your name and contact information, and some of the Services automatically collect information from your device, such as geolocation and browser information.

We take commercially reasonable efforts to protect your personal information and will only provide it to third parties (1) as stated in this notice; (2) to provide you with the location of service providers; and (3) as permitted or required by law. As used in this Privacy Policy, the term “personal information” applies only to information that alone, or in combination with other information in our possession, can identify you individually. Your personal information may be collected when you use our apps, including the BTGSR app.

Disclosure to Third Parties

Bridging The Gap-Oregon and TriMet does not sell, rent, or disclose personal identifiable information to any third party except when requested by governmental authorities. We will disclose information about you if we determine that for purposes of national security, law enforcement, or other issues of public importance, disclosure is necessary or appropriate. We may also disclose information about you, but only where there is a lawful basis for doing so, if we determine that disclosure is reasonably necessary to enforce our terms and conditions or protect our operations or users.

When you provide your personal information to TriMet either when you create or update your account or interact with the BTGSR mobile app, you agree to our use and processing of your personal information as set out in this Privacy Policy. You can update your preferences associated with our use of your personal information, changing your account settings, closing your account and/or deleting the BTGSR app from your device(s). Public Records Laws

TriMet is a public agency and is subject to public records laws. Personal information provided by you may be subject to disclosure pursuant to public records laws, unless the information is exempted by law. You should not provide personal information if you are concerned about disclosure of your information under those laws.

Protection of Personal Information

Bridging The Gap-Oregon and TriMet takes the security of your personal information very seriously. When you use the BTGSR app, including posting on a forum, the personal information and content you share is visible to other app users and can be read, collected, or used by them. You are responsible for the personal information you choose to share or submit in these instances. For example, if you list your name and email address in a forum posting, that information is made available to other BTGSR app users. Please take care when using these features and follow the BTGSR mobile app Terms and Conditions. You can help ensure that your contact information and preferences are accurate by updating your information in the profile section of the BTGSR app.

Bridging The Gap-Oregon Safety Response may update its Privacy Policy from time to time.
